1994 J30 power steering

I would appreciate any help.
I've had a problem with the power steering the issue is it can be sports car tight from start up or go back to being luxury loose. There isn't any rhyme or reason it's random. Theres a new rack it was leaking but this issue(tightness) is what prompted me to bring it it in. The only clues I can give is the belt is new and tight it has a new rack the fluid is fresh. Speedometer and odometer working as they should.
The steering can stay stiff or go back to normal while driving or @ start-up.
For the most part it is sports car stiff.
Any ideas/advice greatly appreciated.

Usually the problem is the power steering control unit. Unfortunately the only solution is replacing the control unit to fix the problem. The control unit is located on the right die of the steering column.

It's working fine as of right now.
I appreciated your help regarding the power steering control unit.
I cleaned it up with contact cleaner added the second ground started the car and reconnected the the power steering control unit. It works.
If it goes out again and reconnection works using the same method what does that tell you? Is it a faulty connection I didn't put the electrical connection grease on yet, or is the unit
failing.
