Spock - I beg your pardon? Hear the motor mounts buzzing...? I had no idea they could make an audible sound. What would that sound like, and where are the plugs located to unplug them? Wouldn't that cause some sort of problem, disconnecting the electronically controlled liquid engine mounts?
I am a bit more worried about these mounts today, because I went over a speed hump, and I swear I could almost feel and hear the engine thump up and down under the hood. Very scary, but maybe I'm just imagining it.

Hi and welcome, I'm relatively new to the site myself, but it has already saved me tons of bucks - you'll love it. I've had my car since new, love the hell out of it, and just can't get rid of it. That's why I'm asking the experienced guys what is the best long-term, high-mileage strategy. I have had very few issues with the car, none major - replaced belts, water hoses, power steering belt, both engine mounts and tranny mount. All mounts are super easy to install, and in my opinion, should be done as soon as the rubber inserts start to "explode" and you feel a jerk upon starting. The mounts are cheap online, less than $150.00 for all 3. Here's the story on my SES light: mine comes on with code P0160 for the rear O2 sensors all the time, and has since new. You're going to get a lot of opinions on this issue...so you picks your poison. The dealer told me this was a "known" problem, and while the cars was still under warranty my ECM program was re-loaded by Infiniti about every 2 months!! After the car warranty was over, all of a sudden it was not a "known" problem anymore and they wanted to charge me! So, since then I just turn it off. I have not replaced the O2 sensors because essentially they do nothing but collect information on the status of the catalytic converter, and the car's performance has not dimished, even with the SES light on. If I ever get a different code that diminishes the car's performance, I will change them. If you decide to change the O2's, try and do it yourself, as I don't think there's really anything you can screw up. With an Infiniti, every repair shop thinks I'm loaded, so I have to do what work I can. So far I've been lucky with no major repairs. Knock on wood (head). Good luck and let us know how you fair in your projects.

Look at the mounts. Only the one at the front of the vehicle and the rear have the electonic contols. You'll see a wire coming out of them. Follow it until you find the plug.
One of the best ways, (again, my opinion), to check motor mounts is to open the hood, start engige, place foot firmly on brake, put tranny in drive and step on the gas. You can see, feel and hear what the engine does. Do the same thing in reverse. If the engine jumps wildly,( remember it will torque, move, a bit normally), clunks or bangs then your mounts are quite likely toast.
