Default 2002 q45 oil consumption

I seem to be always low on oil. No indication of leaks. What is normal oil consumption for the 2002 Q45?

Welcome to Infinitihelp.com forums!!

Unfortunately is very common on that engine. The normal is around 1-2 qrts every 3000 miles. There is new Engine Control Module (ECM) program that can improve the problem, but it will not fix it.

Here the bulletin:

Default thanks

thanks for your response. It seems to use a little more than that. I will have them check the ECU programming.

I have an 02 that is out of warranty. Is this ECM programming something I would get charged for?

The ECU/TCM reprogramming/replacement will cost you around $600-900. It is always advisable to request service history when purchased from dealership or private party.

My suggestion to you is to use synthetic oil. I have been using Mobil 0W-40 plus a BG MOA additive. And I change oil at 3K miles.

Default Oil consumption

I have a similar issue with my 2002 Q45, with only 70K. We are wondering whether we should sell it (if we can) or repair it. Any ideas? Does anyone have any ideas on life expectancy for this car?
