Default 2003 Q45 Electric Throttle Control Actuator

Help is appreciated. The MIL light of '03 Q45 came on and also Fail Safe mode. Rather than limp home at 5 mph (I hate Fail Safe Mode), stopped engine then restarted after 40 min. Problem did not return. At home I scanned code 2138 "Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor". This sensor is part of the Electric Throttle Control Actuator, which also includes the TPS. A high $$$ part. Had a similar problem 2 yrs ago. Then it was a P1121 Code indicating the TPS (intermittent problem that got worse and worse). Dealer resolved the problem under warrenty by replacing the Electric Throttle Control Actuator. At that time I had about 35,000 mi. Now, 2 yrs later, it seems I have another Throttle control Actuator problem (after another 35,000 mi). Not in warrently anymore. Is there an issue with these actuators or am I just unlucky? Are they expected to last only a couple years? I haven't verified the P2138 problem yet, but I'm expecting the APP is bad. Yeah, I know this is an intermittent problem, and until it gets worse, I may have a difficult time verifying the problem. Any suggestion on verifying?

There are problem with the actuators. First it was a mechanical issue making the actuator stick and then the replacement actuators had an electrical issue.

You may try cleaning the throttle plate and resetting the base idle. It wouldn't hurt to do it any way.

Here is the procedure for the G35, which is similar to your Q45: http://www.infinitihelp.com/diy/gsed..._procedure.htm

Code 1211 indicates a problem with the VDC/TCS/ABS Control system. Not sure what you mean by "the other thing under the dash". And I'm not so sure the throttle body would have anything to do with this code, but please understand, I am certainly NOT qualified to give an opinion on your problem. Please be aware that your post is only a reply to my post. Therefore, your question is only available to me. Others will not see it unless they just happen to read the thread attached to my post. You will have better luck getting responses if you repost your question in the general forum.

hro60 is right about the question. If you search the forums, or start a new thread after searching, you are more likely going to get a response. hro60 is also right about the source of your code. For further diagnosis you should refer to the service manuals or check with a mechanic. If you start a new thread you're going to want to describe the problem as fully as you can. the code helps but it certainly isn't everything.
