Anyone have a noise problem with wind whistling on their driver's door where the window meets the weatherstripping? I have a 2004 AT coupe and have had this problem since buying the car in Feb 2006. Jim Coleman Infinit (Bethesda, Md) has "fixed" this problem 3 times already. They replaced the weatherstripping twice and adjusted the window three times. At highway speeds the wind whistles in the corner where the top and back corner of the window meets the rubber. Im running out of ideas and patience. Im gonna try a new dealer (only 2 in area). Anyone have any ideas/suggestions? Thanks for the help.

Are you sure its wind? I have a whistling sound that sounds just like wind coming in the car, but its only when cold. Its the transmission making the sound.

Thanks for the reply, sorry I am so delinquent in mine. Its definitely a window/weatherstrip area noise. It gets louder with speed..starts around 65 and on up. Also hear it on really windy days (which I dont necessarily find unusual), but on calm days its a steady whistle. With the wet roads and salt I can see a disruption where the top of the window meets the roof and weatherstripping (top right corner if looking from outside drivers door) and what I mean is by the air moving over that area with the moisture its possible to see where the dirt/salt lands and swirls....different from the passenger side. It might be a top moulding alignment problem....Infiniti isnt very helpful except to keep replacing weatherstripping. They say "cant duplicate problem"....as usual with most stealerships with a warranty claim. Thanks again and sorry about the lengthy response.

Hi, I'm new to this site AND a new Infiniti owner (as of Feb 07) so I don't have any answers as to why we have the windnoise, but I wanted to let u know that the 03 has really bad windnoise on freeway. Ours is mostly from sunroof, but not exclusively. Have u had any electrical-type issues? Our alarm on driver's side door just stopped working and the door won't lok from outside (or w/keyfob) 2 days after that, the dash lights & radio started going off intermittently! Wierd, huh? It's still a great car! Thanks!

the radio is being replaced as we speak. its been at the dealer since friday to check on an engine noise and smoke problem (see my other post). no problem with sunroof or key fobs and we love the car. the wind noise seems to be coming from the top of the window outside on the trim above the weatherstrip. they're looking into it.....again. thanks for the reply.

My G35 '06 has problem with wind noise and they replace the weather strip and put some packing under the strip which temp fix. They are aware of the problem but Infiniti says its design flaw. Just like the Bluetooth making the cracking noise.

My 06 coupe has no wind noise. I had my window regulator replaced once b/c window would go up/down slightly crooked. Maybe that's what's wrong with yours and not making complete seal when closed.

I'm very curious about this as a prospective owner. I have an Acura Integra, 1990, and it has huge problems with wind noise because of the frameless window. The doors just don't seal correctly very often. My friend's Mustang solves this by rolling the window down just a bit then back up when you close the door all the way. Seems like a hack solution to a problem that'd be better solved by just having a freakin frame for the window. But oh well.
So the G35 doesn't have an upper frame for the door windows? If so, that's a negative for me. That wind noise drives me nuts in my Acura. Is it a problem in the 05s? I don't want to have to replace that weatherstripping every 3 years... |

Interesting that you mention this wind noise. I am having the exact same issue... but heres the catch. It didn't start until after i got into an accident.
The accident was on the Passenger side Rear Corner (bumper light, quarter panel) and it was a pretty big accident. Now there is really annoying wind noise (wind coming into the car as if your window was cracked just slightly). I can't stand it so i have to drive with my window down all the time. Same spot - Upper corner drivers side. Anybody got a clue? Maybe the body shop didn't repair the car correctly or the frame was tweaked thats what caused the gap between the window and the rubber, maybe? |

Hmmm, now that I think about it... Yeah, I've noticed a bit of wind noise in my '06 6MT coupe from what appears to be the same area (upper fwd corner - but at both side windows). One codicil though - it only begins at speeds in excess of 80+mph. In truth, I don't find it that annoying - at anything over 65+mph or so, I would suspect some degree of wind noise is pretty much inevitable in most vehicles. Of course, there may well be some exceptions that I'm not aware of... YMMV...
