Thanks everyone,

the sound is more of a brief rattling upon acceleration. Havent noticed it much since I filled it up with Shell premium. Again, my wife drives it all day so I will have to test it when I get home.

If the sound is still there I will schedule an appointment with the dealer.

the car is in mint condition otherwise.

Thanks again

And c'mon, really. I used to dislike paying for premium octane when gas was cheap. Now do the math: $.10-.15 extra on a $3.00-odd gallon of gas. That percentage is so miniscule its hardly calculable. Maybe premium octane will get you where you're going enough faster to off set the pennies. Otherwise go drive an Altima.

Although, back to the noise, could 'clanking' be a driveshaft? A u-joint or cv joint? BTW, which do these cars use?

Elininating the noise as engine knock is the first and easierst thing to rule out because engine knock is a known condition to happen to some of these cars.

Next would be to check the driveshaft, and other drive train cmponents.

The other "once every 30k-50k mile" thing to try is either a bottle of Chevron Techron or BG 44K. * Not any other snake oil product displayed next to these * Pour it in with a fill up of premium grade, preferably before you will be doing alot of driving to run it all through the fuel system. I have seen both of these products (the BG contains Techron) do amazing things on certain cars that are victims of bad fuel or too much around town driving which can leave deposits in the intake or combustion chamber.
