I am a loyal Datson/Nissan customer and own several Nissan products including currently a 2001 Sentra and a 2002 Pathfinder. I am considering downsizing the Pathfinder to one of the Crossover and thinking of the Rogue or the EX35.
The Canadian pricing of the Rogue is very disappointing. It turns out to be > 1.3 times the US pricing plus $1400 PDI. I think it is too excessive and I even wrote to Nissan Canada to comment the pricing. I am now turning to the EX35. The US EX35 pricing is very competitive and affordable but I read from some report saying that the Canadian pricing will be $45K to $55K. I believe this is far too excessive as well and will lose it competitiveness. I am sure a lot of Canadian customers have the same issue. Is there any Nissan management personnel who are reading this board please price the Canadian product fairly when compare to the US price. I don't mind paying 15% to 20% premium but >30% premium is far too excessive. |

I have heard that Nissan has announced pricing incentives in Canada that are supposed to reflect the relative strength of the Canadian dollar. The advertisements indicate deep discounts on "almost every Nissan vehicle". I am sure that since the Rogue is their newest offering they will delay offering these discounts on it but I'm sure they will come.
Have you spoken with your local dealership. I've heard that Acura is offering deep discounts for "cash" clients. That is, for customers who are not using Acura's financing. One person I spoke with said that you can negotiate as much as $9,000 off of msrp on a new MDX. Some dealerships may be willing to drop their prices considerably. As to the EX35, the base FX35 lists at $56K (Cdn) so I would expect the list price for the base to be around$45 - $50

The FX is a couple years old model. At that time the CAD was around 80Cents USD and I can take that pricing.
Since the EX is new model, there is no reason that they should use the FX as price guide line. They should use the US price as guide line since both are imported from Japan. If US can sell it for 32700 and 36255 for AWD which are what Canada is getting, I am not sure how the Canadian can justify paying $45K for the base model and $55K for the Journey. Also don't forget that the Canadian PDI is several hundred more than the US and there is another couple hundre dollars of document fee in Canada as well. They all add up to a substantial higher price. The Acura RDX priced 33K+ (higher than the EX) in US and priced 41K in Canada. The RDX tech is 36K in US and 45K in Canada which is more realistics even though the conversion of 1.25 is still higher than I think is reasonable. |

There are many people bringing in cars from the US. That might be an option. I remember when the Canadian dollar was 65 cents. Many people were bringing cars into the states from Canada for re-sale. Things change pretty fast sometimes.
