exhaust air smell gas

yes the exhaust fume coming out of my 97 q45 smell gas. please help me troubleshoot this emission. thank you.

The engine is running too rich. Could be due to a bad air flow meter, leaking fuel injector or bad O2 sensor. More test needs to be done to determine the cause of the problem. Any other symptoms? or codes stored in the ECM?

thanks for the reply but i have not taken error code yet. i have to take it down to repair shop for me to take the error codes and im afraid it would cost me too much money. i also have check engine lit up and it shakes while im on stop with engine running. i don't know what to do.

You should be able to get an auto parts store to read the codes for you. Many places offer this service for free. Once you have the codes Infinitiexpert will likely be able to help or there is a lot of code information on the site.

yeah you definatly want to check it out, ilovemyfx is right autozone or advance auto will do the scans for free. it kind of sounds like a misfire i used to have a car that had a misfire and shook when at a stop or driving but thats another story. check it out and let us know, you will have to find out someday and hopefully not when you are stranded on the road.
