Default Factory Alarm no sound

Not sure whats going on with my factory alarm, but I cant get horn to work. I tried pressing both unlock/lock buttons on the remote to change the mode and I did see the turn signal lights flash but I did not get a sound from the horn. THe horn does work when you press it down on the steering wheel.

Then I tried pressing both lock and unlock buttons simultaneously but no luck. I cycled the plunger sensor on the passenger side of the hood to see if it was sticking, it seemed fine. I held the plunger down and tried activating the alarm and still no good. I replaced the horn relay because I thought it might be faulty, but no luck their. All I can see is flashing lights but no sound with the alarm activated/deactivated.

Can someone point me in the right direction Thanks

The horn is controlled by the body control module (BCM) through the Intelligent Power Distribution Module Engine Room (IPDM E/R). If the horn is not working then either there is no connection or one of the modules is not working properly.

Since the headlights are working and the horn is manual working, then the BCM is probably not sending the signal. I suggest trying to reset the the BCM by disconnecting the car battery for about 30 minutes.

I looked in a 2005 owners manual and it's a feature you can turn horn on/off with security system.

OP:
Know you said you did unlock/lock buttons on fob, but did you hold them down for more than two seconds, then get confirmation on number of flashing lights to tell you what mode you put it in?

G/L

HOW TO USE THE REMOTE
KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM
Setting hazard indicator and horn
mode
The factory setting of the remote keyless
entry system is in hazard indicator and
horn mode.
In hazard indicator and horn mode, when
the LOCK button 1 is pushed, the hazard
indicator flashes twice and the horn
chirps once. When the UNLOCK button 2
is pushed, the hazard indicator flashes
once.
If horn chirps are not necessary, the system
can be switched to hazard indicator
mode.
In hazard indicator mode, when the LOCK
button is pushed, the hazard indicator
flashes twice. When the UNLOCK button is
pushed, neither the hazard indicator nor
the horn operates.
(Switching procedure)
Push the LOCK 1 and UNLOCK 2 buttons
on the keyfob simultaneously for
more than 2 seconds to switch from one
mode to the other.
When pushing the buttons to set hazard
indicator only mode, the hazard indicator
flashes 3 times.
When pushing the buttons to set hazard
indicator and horn mode, the hazard indicator
flashes once and the horn chirps
once.

Didnt have a camera to post any pictures but I found several relays in the (IPDM E/R) with corrosion and rust. I removed all the relays, cleaned all the contact points and re-installed. Worked like a CHARM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thread CLOSED!!
