Exclamation Leaky Sunroof?

I have a new EX with less than 500 miles on it. A day or two after picking it up I took it to a "Touchless" typhoon car wash, and immediatly noticed that I felt drops of water spraying on me when th jets passed over head. I took it back to the dealership and they swapped the roof. A day after getting it back, I tried a different car wash of the same type, and though not as bad, still got water coming in. I again returned it to the dealer, and they gave me a loaner EX almost identical to mine except for color. I decided to try this one in the same car wash, and this EX ALSO has the same problem. It appears that when any high pressure spray or even the dryers at the car wash go over the roof, they push the whole glass down a bit, enough to let water in. My car is now at the dealership and I am waiting for the Infiniti rep to call me as he is at the dealership today. I believe it is a design issue, as I have NEVER had any vehicle leak in this type of car wash , nor do I believe they should. Have any other EX owners out there, experienced the same issue? Your input is GREATLY appreciated.

Ron

There have been intermittent sunroof problems and a couple of tsb's issued for other Infiniti vehicles. If the problem is common Infiniti will have to develop a fix and issue a tsb. There isn't one so far for the EX but from the sounds of it one will be coming.

Thanks for the info! Would you know any of the other vehicles that have had TSB's issued for sunroof problems? Or the actual TSB's? Just so I could compare symptoms.

Thanks Again,

Ron

I found it under tsb's for the G35 sedan but it affects several vehicles. Check ITB07-032a on this page:

The EX isn't listed unfortunately :(.

Angry Leaky Roof Update !

I just got a call from Infiniti consumer services and they are telling me the car is performing to "Specifications", and that it should not be washed in a high pressure touch less car wash. That is "CRAP ! I have had many other vehicles with sunroofs, and NEVER has any leaked in ANY car wash. There is obviously something wrong with the design , and I can not believe Infiniti would give me this type of answer. I otherwise LOVE the vehicle, but to me this is a major issue. Have any other EX owners out there experienced the same problem? Could someone give it a try and let me know your results?

Thanks,

Ron

Default Infiniti has "Wahsed their Hands" of my leaky roof !

Well this will probably be my last post about my leaky sunroof. Infiniti consumer services has basically washed their hands of the issue. Their position is that the car is performing to specifications, and that water leaking in the sunroof in a car wash is OK. The issue Paul is having , according to Infiniti, is not related because his leak is more severe, and happens when it is raining as well. A leak is a leak. There is obviously something wrong with the design of the roof, or a manufacturing problem in at least some of the EX35's, as I have not found another vehicle, Nissan or not, that leaks in the same manner as mine. I even contacted the manufacturer of the car wash equipment, and they have never had any other complaints like this. They also believe something is not right with the roof. I have to say I am more dissapointed with the level and manner of support provided by Infiniti Consumer Services, than I am with the leaky roof itself. Although it is unacceptable, I can live with not using a high presssure car wash. I guess I expected Infiniti to provide the same level of service that I received with my BMW purchase, but I was mistaken. I hope all of you other EX35 owners out there do not have the same problems Paul and I are having, and if you do, make sure you let Infiniti know that you are aware there are others out here that also are experiencing the leaks.

Good Luck !
Ron

I am sorry Infiniti has let you down on this one Ron. Wish we had a solution for you as well. Post up if there is any new word or if you need anything else. :(

Ron,
Try this approach. Ask if leaks on any car is acceptable. They will probably tell you No. then ask if that's the case why is it on this one? I'm of the school of thought that they can't argue with logic. Never have I had an auto to leak and it be O.K.

Default Thanks for the support !

I appreciate all the feedback and words of support from the community. As I said, I am more dissapointed with the response from Infiniti, than I am with the problem I am personally experiencing. Unfortunatly some others, like Paul, are having MUCH worse trouble than I am. Hopefully when enough EX35 owners, (and from the looks of it I am sure there will be), report their roofs leaking in any capacity, Infiniti will "Seriously" address the issue. I just hope my troubles will alert the rest of the EX35 owners out there to make sure they check for potential leaks, and if found, make SURE to let Infiniti know it is NOT acceptable.

Thanks Again,

Ron

Default I tried EVERY "Logical" argumment

Believe me, I tried EVERY possible string of logic when I was dealing with Infiniti consumer services. Even after dealinjg with a supervisor there, they would just NOT admit, no matter how much backup support and evidence I had, that the car was not performing to their "Specifications". However when I asked what those specifications were, the response I received was , "I am not an engineer, but I have spoken to our engineers, and according to them it is performing to Infiniti specifications". That is the kind of "Logic" I received from infiniti Consumer Servcies. As you can see, there was NO WAY , I was winning the battle.:hang:
