VIN decoding is very helpful, but the plate in the engine compartment also has the Model Number (no not G35) that is at least as long as the VIN.
I believe it has all the options that are included for the specific vehicle. If anyone knows how to decode this, I would appreciate it. |

For example, my model number (as on the plate in the engine compartment) is: "GLJALFMV35EUA272_ _ " (The dashes are on the plate...) Underneath that is the Color/Trim Code: WV2G (Diamond Graphite/Aluminum, Graphite Leather) Under that, the number code for transmission (Auto or MT). I can't believe I'm the only one who wondered about this.... :) |

Excellent! The only strange thing is the 'N" vs. "M" for 5AT.
I had always thought there were codes (maybe not on the car?) for optional factory installed systems. I notice the example shows rear steering option (if equipped), but not LSD. And then there is the 272 at the end of my model number, likely a code for something else. Definitely on the right track! thanks! |
