I have a 2004 g35x sedan with about 38000 miles on it and I have been experiencing an odd odor eminating from the vents. I noticed this problem approximately 2 weeks after buying the car when I had run over the carcass of a dead animal in the road. I am not sure if this is what caused the problem due to the fact that I didnt have a terribly lot of experience with the car before that happened. The strange part about this is that it is not constant. It usually emerges when the heat is on without air conditioning enabled using the outside air intake switch during stop and go driving. If I flick on the air conditioning, it will gradually dissipate. I attempted to have the problem diagnosed by my local dealership but could not reproduce the odor in the parking lot that day. I don't know anything about how the heat and air conditioning system work in this car. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have the same issue. It is a burning rubber smell. I have had that since I got the vehicle and Infiniti does not have an answer. At a recent service, I complained again and was told that this is an occasional issue with the G35 and they do not have an answer for it.
Very annoying....
