I have to wonder how that switch placement ever got approved. The seat is otherwise very comfortable. CPV35, please let me know if you find a source for that TSB.

I posted the TSB number already. "Service Bulletin Num : 03018". It is an old one but I imagine your dealership can look it up.

Yea, I plan to ask the dealer to take a look the TSB. I'm curious to find out whether they will be sympathetic or indifferent about it since it was for 2003 models.

Never hurts to ask. I searched all of 2006 sedan/coupe for maybe a different TSB number. Nothing about this issue. There's other seat ones though.

That's what I'm afraid of. I'm gonna ask them anyway and see what happens.

The goofy placement of the driver's seat controls got to be too much discomfort for me on longer drives. That damn bracket was digging into my upper thigh and ruining my driving experience. I was constantly squirming trying to find a more comfortable position. If I moved away from the controls, then the bolster on the other side would soon become uncomfortable for the left thigh. Also, the seat bottom didn't have enough "tush cush" for my liking. The dealer said the TSB only applied to the 03 model and I don't think that solution would have helped much anyway.
So, I visited several custom trim shops until I found one that had some experience with this type of modification. They removed the controls from the original side seat placement and tucked them neatly under the front of the seat. They also added (upon my request) more foam to the seat bottom and filled in the empty space with padding and a new piece of leather. You can't even tell the seat ever looked any different unless you already knew where the controls were originally placed. Now the seat looks and feels much wider than it was and is a ton more comfortable and it looks like it could have (maybe should have) come from the factory that way. This custom trim shop did a fantastic job at a cost of $225 (well worth it to me). The controls are still easily accessible and hidden to boot and not in the way. I suppose Infiniti's "in-the-seat" placement of the controls was meant to be a convienence feature but the "seat memory" function and the "easy out" feature makes constant adjustment unnecessary anyway so the under seat mod doesn't really take away any convienence AFAIC. Sort of a set-it-and-forget-it type thing. Now there is nothing stopping me from enjoying this wonderful car and I now look for excuses to go for a drive.

Thanks for the update campoly. Got any pictures? I'd love to see how it came out.

until you look under the front of the seat. There is a slight difference in the leather color but it is due mostly to the difference between new and old. I think once I give the old leather a good cleaning it will match better. Also the lighting is making it look more dramatic that it really is in this photo. In the photo of the controls, it may look like they stick out but they don't. You can't tell they are there unless you really bend down and look for them. They are easily reachable when seated.
