Default Power seat problem: only one side moves

All - I know there have several posts regarding this type of problem, but I only saw a couple of posts where only 1 side of the seat wanted to move. All the other adjustments work perfectly...just not the backwards/forwards. Only the left side wants to move. My guess is the motor is ok, but there is a problem with the seat track. The car has almost 70k and I didn't purchase the extended warranty .

Any advice would be helpful.

I'd say that you either have a stripped gear on one side or you have some kind of foreign matter caught in the one side track. I think you are going to have to take the seat apart to say for sure.

That wouldn't mean I'd need to replace the entire seat motor mechanism right? i.e. $1100+ at the stealership!

looks like it's a stripped gear....$790 is the quote for the part! Problem is since the seat is all the way back....only a tall person can drive the car :).

If it's just the little gear you may want to try a salvage yard. That price is probably for the whole assembly. That little plastic gear is a pain. You could probably get a place to laser cut a sheet of plastic for a cheaper price.

Did you personally asked the parts department if they sell just the gear? many times the techs at the dealer recommend the entire seat even is just a small part. For the techs it is easier to replaced and sell. Here is a bulletin with the instructions to remove the seat a take it a part: http://x.infinitihelp.com/forum/loca...pp=12&keyid=12

agree with expert. but you can call consumers up they might give 400 towards repair or more they no its a common problem on the car plus you will do the parts in the itb this week back again in 2 weeks for whole track as they are cracking.

I called. They said drop the car off at the dealership and get an official report from them. Then call consumer affairs back while the car is there and they will get a regional specialist to talk to the dealer. What I don't want is for my car to be stuck there and i'm forced to pay for the $1100 repair.
