Hello everyone. I have a 00 Q45 with 78k miles. Recently the engine started making a rattling noise on start up. Now the noise is constant.
The engine oil pressure has been checked (150Kpa). I pulled the upper chain covers. Both upper chain tensioners feel spongy. The engine is very clean inside, with no other issues. What should I do next ????? |

Could you described more the rattling noise. From where do you heard the rattle? top of the engine? bottom? right side? how is the oil level and condition? what type of engine oil and filter are you using?

Sorry it took soooooo long to get back with you. The rattle appears to come from the lower left side ,facing the engine. Castrol Syntec 10W30
has always been used in the engine. Oil level / Pressure have all been checked. The dealer service tech states that the tensioners NEVER go bad....HA HA.. Any suggestions ?? Thanks again for the response. |
