Hello,
I just recently purchased my 3rd Infiniti Q45t. I have had a '94, '97 and now an '01. All have been great cars, hence the reason I have had 3 in a row. My last Q45t had over 145,000 miles and was still going strong, other than a bent antenna (my fault, car wash) the car looked and drove flawless. It was easily a 9 out of 10. The only reason I traded it in was because a buddy of mine at a local Infiniti dealer called and told me about a 2001 Q45t with only 26,000 miles on it. Long story short, I bought & love the car. But...it doesn't have the acceleration of the last two. Even my '97 with all those miles could run laps around this thing. I have had it back to the dealer 2 times now and they say everything is fine. They have run scan tests, checked/cleared codes in the engine and tranny and can find nothing. I know there is something that is not right with this car. After owning three Q's in a row, I am very familiar with the way they drive and this one is lacking in the power department, especially below 3,000 rpm. I actually timed it 0-60 and it is taking about 10 seconds when it should be closer to 8. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for the help... Thanks, Russ russtoleum@mac.com |

Hello and welcome to the forum!!
Assuming that all the basic stuff is already check. Like air filter, fuel filter, oil level and condition, spark plugs. The only thing I can think that can cause lack of power is the knock sensor. It is possible that one of both of the sensor are not working properly. A bad sensor can make the ECM retard the timing of the engine when is not necessary. Go to any shop or parts store and have them run the scanner to check for codes.
