Herrin-Gear Infiniti, Jackson, MS
I would never buy a car there. I would never get service there, if I have an alternative, except for the fact that they are the only Infiniti dealer closer within 100-200 miles. I've known many people over the years who were unhappy with the sales department. No, not everybody is unhappy. My doctor friends, who's wives pay sticker, get their asses kissed, pay top dollar with a smile, and trade before the warranty expires so they always get a loaner when their car is in the shop, they're happy. But, I don't buy new so that's not my experience. Most of the people I know are price conscious and don't trade before the end of the warranty so their experience is not quite as rosy either. One of the biggest problems with the service department is the fact that they don't keep much of a parts inventory. That means waiting days, or a week or so, for a stupid part. I've had them get the wrong part 3 times before getting the right one on my wife's '00 I30. I went in about the '04 I35 I just got for my wife and they didn't even know there was no keylock on the trunk. The advice they gave me, to keep things secure in the trunk when using the valet key, was to use the latch just inside the trunk to disable the driver's door switch from opening the trunk, which also keeps the remote from opening the trunk. Then, when my wife's finished shopping, they said she could climb in the trunk, through the backseat and through the trunk, to flip the latch back to again enable the door switch and remote to open the trunk. I told them I didn't think she'd be very happy with that. I sure wasn't. The service guy even crawled back through and did it once for me. Giving credit where credit is due, he was genuinely trying to help but just didn't have anyone to tell him what I later learned on another forum, that there's a release latch just inside the backseat entrance to the trunk, so it's not necessary to crawl all the way into the trunk. I must also add, concerning the trunk situation, that when I went to the Infiniti website and asked how to secure the trunk, I was emailed a reply that my concern had been given a file number, 5986308, and that my concern had been noted. The customer service rep also thanked me for allowing him to serve me which, while it seemed courteous enough, left me baffled as to what exactly he did to serve me. He sure didn't tell me about the trunk latch just behind the backseat. I got that later as a reply to a post on NicoClub.com. The people I've dealt with in service and parts are always very nice and courteous. They just seem to be working for an employer that doesn't provide enough training or carry enough parts inventory, spending it instead on fancy buildings and appearances. My wife had a Saturn, that I purchased in Louisiana, many years ago, and Herrin-Gear was the only Saturn dealer within 100-200 miles of Jackson. I used to dread taking the car in for service because somehow it would need to go back a few weeks later for something else. Did mechanics do something to make it have to come back or was I just unlucky. I'll never know but have always wondered. I get our Infiniti cars serviced anywhere but Herrin-Gear unless there is no other option, such as getting keys made. Again, I can only discuss the service end because I don't buy new, ever. I buy cars with 60-80k mi. about 3-4 years old for about a third of the original price. I keep them well maintained and sell them at around 200k mi. and repeat the process. I buy clean cars that sell in the $30's for about $12k and sell them for $4-5k. My cost per mile is a heckuva lot less and I'm happy someone else took the beating at the dealer instead of me. People should absolutely do their homework before visiting any dealer to buy or get service unless cost is of no concern and they don't mind getting screwed monetarily in order to get their ass kissed. Would I recommend this dealer to anyone who had an alternative? Hell no! |

Thanks for the honest review knucklebuster but can you repeat it in the "dealer reviews" section. Infinitiexpert's post is not that obvious but if you click on the words "dealer reviews" at the end of his post you'll be taken to a far better place to post reviews. Everything is mapped out and each dealership is represented across the USA and Canada.
Here is a link to Herrin-Gear Infiniti to save you some time: http://x.infinitihelp.com/Reviews/it...me=Mississippi Thanks

What exactly is this website about? Can it be reviewed also? Is it independent of Infiniti or is it a pimping station? Reason I ask is that a quick review shows that there are trained mechanics moderating the site yet not a one of 30 viewers can help me prepare for the service call on my exhaust leak. Is it going to be a 1/2 hour or 12 hours to get to the problem? Should I save up 2 months pay or can I get it straightened out for a the cost of a nice dinner at a plush eatery?
So, does Infinitihelp actually help or are you just collecting information from owners on their issues? Can you "experts" (your handle, not mine) not explain the access to a simple exhaust component, or do you just want me to walk into the shop knowing that you need a mirror to even see the rear manifold, let alone diagnose if it is a tube or header gasket, or a pipe tap leaking? Please clearly state if this is a website being ran by a lover of Infiniti or Infiniti corporate? If you delete this post I still appriceate your answer. BTW, my dealer here in Orlando has had 2 calls that went to voicemail in the last 2 weeks and the message stated that I would get a callback within an hour. Have not heard a FN word from them and I believe it's because I have an 8 year old car and they would rather have the doctors wife referenced above to come in and lay some serious profit margin on them with a new vehicle than deal with my aging cruser. The followup, here and at the Infiniti dealer, says a lot about the brand guys. |

To answer your question, and as a reminder to others, please be aware that infinitihelp is a free site where one infiniti owner can help, and seek help from, other Infiniti owners. There are moderators and active members that have more knowledge, especially in regards to their own vehicles, that will try to help where possible and on a more regular basis. Part of a moderators role here is to encourage the sharing of information between members and between this and other sites, and to point the member in the right direction if a direct answer isn't available..
There are also moderators with very extensive knowledge of Infiniti repair and maintenance. Unfortunately answers are not always available and some posts get missed. If you find your answers elsewhere please let us know and a small gap in knowledge here may be filled. As to the nature of the site, we are not, to my knowledge, associated in any way with Infiniti corporate. This site is a repository for information on the service of your Infiniti, a family of Infiniti enthusiasts, and a place for people with a little information to share it with others. If everyone here shared a little information we would all have alot of information.
