rattling sound

hey i have recently had a new clutch put in and when the clutch was gone there was a rattling noise and once fixed the noise went away....its been 3 months since the new clutch and the noise came back but the clutch is still brand new...the noise come when i switch gears but am not on the gas and the noise is louder than the exhaust...it doesnt sound to pretty....mechanic at the dealership said it was the transmission and says its normal on these cars and cant be fixed....anyone have any idea about this?!?!?

You're Infiniti mechanic said a rattling noise coming from your tranny, that is louder than the exhaust, is normal? I am not a mechanical expert but I would say get a second opinion.

There are a few existing threads about tranny noise. Try searching for things like "clutch rattle", "clutch noise", or "tranny noise".

Agree...any noise louder than exhaust is NOT normal.

Almost sounds like they forgot to replace the throw-out bearing and/or new one went bad after your clutch job. Just a guess being same noise came back after 3mo.

Have read about some tranny input/output shaft bearings going bad. ...more like you'll get a new 6mt under warranty.

Dealer says tranny and it's normal Go to different dealer for their opinion or press the issue with your current one.

Long story short...my local dealer said my oil consumption on my VQ was normal Went to different dealer and eventually got a long-block replacement from them per the TSB on that issue. I also filed a complaint with Infiniti on my local dealer due to their lip service saying that was normal.
