That depends a bit on where you live and what you are really wanting from the rust proofing. Personally I don't think rust proofing has much benefit from a rust prevention stand point. If not done right it can even accelerate issues (due to plugging of drain holes). Probably the biggest benefit from rust proofing is as a sound deadener. But, that sound deadening comes at the cost of added weight and expense.
You could use the money that the rust proofing would cost and instead use it to keep the car washed and waxed. Washing the salt water off the car regularly will serve you better than rust proofing from my experience. You'll want to hose off the undercarriage of the car and make sure all the body panel drains are open and not plugged with sand/leaves/debris. -Rod |

I agree with shorod. Rustproofing, especially when the car is four years old, doesn't seem like a good idea. Keeping the car, especially the undercarriage, as clean as possible is more important IMO. Spraying the undercarriage and the inside of your fender wells is very important to flush salt residue, dirt, and debris.

They like salt here in Iowa too. The only vehicle I've had rust is one that was undercoated. Granted that was a 1988 Ford Escort EXP which probably had poor metal compared with many of my subsequent cars. But, I bought the EXP when it was only 2 years old, I kept it washed and waxed, yet it still rusted. I owned that car before my Dad retired, so I had year-round access to a heated auto shop where I could wash, dry, wax, etc. the car weekly during the winter months.
A former 2000 Mercury Mountaineer ended up with some rust, but that was due to the drains for the sunroof plugging with sand/dirt so water would sit inside the fenders and rot them from the inside out. It was tough to get to those drains due to the running boards. -Rod |

Isn't there a rust warranty on these Infiniti's?
Anyway if still concerned, just get that spray sound deadening under-body sealant stuff. It's basically spray-on tar that'll seal things up and protect. Just mask the heck out of everything you don't want that stuff on. It sprays everywhere and is messy. WD40 will take off any over-spray before it cures 100%. Used that stuff on a couple 'old' vehicles I was restoring many years ago. Made the frame rails and wheel wells look brand new, plus all sealed up again for no more rusting, which it never did again.
