I am having a hard time finding the right gear oil for the differential (planning to change it at 15K) . Available locally here in Norhtern CA is
Valvoline non synthetic 80w-90, Mobil 1 75-90 synthetic. I guess I can order online maybe Pennzoil or Amsoil, but shipping is too expensive. I called Mobil 1 and asked if 75W-90 is okay ( of course they will say it is- but I'm doubtful). What do you guys use? I have the 6MT with LSD, by the way. |

According to your owner's manual, you should use the following in the differential of your 07 sedan:
Genuine NISSAN Differential Oil Hypoid Super GL-5 80W-90 or API GL-5 Viscosity SAE 80W-90. For hot climates, viscosity SAE 90 is suitable for ambient temperatures above 32°F (0°C). Look at the bottle and make sure it is GL-5 rated. I use the Mobil 1 in my coupe. The 75w designation means it will be a little thinner at cold temperatures, which are rare where I live.

The local Infiniti dealership don't sell the genuine Nissan Differential fluid. The parts person claimed they used Pennzoil ( I should have asked what weight) that they buy in bulk, so they can't sell me retail. I wonder if putting the Mobil 1 75w-90 will void my warranty in any way, climate here doesn't drow below 30 degrees in winter.

At my Chrysler/Jeep dealership, we stock GL-5 80w-90 Hypoid differential oil. Why is that any different from any other oil that says exactly the same thing on the label? So, I guess the question might be....What is the difference between "Genuine Nissan Oil" and "Genuine Mopar Oil"?
