Hello everyone. I am new to this forum. Hope you can offer some help. I have a 1995 Q45T that I bought in 1998 with 22,000 miles. Today it has 72,000 miles. It has always been very well cared for. The car is currently garaged in Florida. Recently upon starting the car the TCS and Slip lights come on plus the power steering is out, no aircon, no power windows, no directional signals etc. I took the Car to Orlando Infiniti. They confirmed the problem, replaced MAS Flow, checked grounds, and replaced some other things (I'm in NY the bill is in Florida) - about a thousand dollars of work. After driving the car for about 5 minutes with this condition it will suddenly return to normal, e.g. the TCS and Slip lights go out, power steering restored, the aircon comes on, directional signals start to work, etc. Everything else with the performance of the car will be fine until I turn it off and when I start it again it goes through the same cycle. Has anyone had these problems? I've gone through all the other threads and have not found anything quite like my problem. Any help will be appreciated. Orlando Infiniti can't figure out the problem after 2 tries.

Sounds like a power problem, the alternator not charging properly when cold or there is a poor connection to the main fuses or battery.

Thanks very much for the speedy reply. I do recall that the infiniti said they checked the alternator and they said it was working properly. They also said that they reconnected the ground cables. Just to be sure it wasn't the battery, I replaced a 2 year old Interstate long life battery with a $139. Die Hard Gel battery that someone told me was more powerful (didn't make any difference). I'll check the battery cable connections again but I think that they are pretty tight both at the battery and elsewhere when I get back to Florida in a few weeks. Again, thanks very much for your thoughts on this.

Thanks very much. I will check these connections too. I will let the forum know the results as I would imagine I am not the only Q45t experiencing this problem and if this fixes the situation it might be useful to others. Thanks again.

Thanks! I'll consider bringing the car back to New York. It is such a terrific car that it would be worth it.

Problem solved! When I got down to Florida just before Thanksgiving I looked in the Central Florida phone book and found a mechanic shop that specializes in Nissan and Infiniti products (and just about all other Japanese cars). The name of the shop is Z-Tech. They are located at 529 N. Highway 17-92 in Longwood Florida 32750. Their phone number is 407-695-6000. I visited the shop before bringing my 1995 Q45t there. The place looked very professional and clean. The owner and his wife run the place. Their names are Avi and Joshna. The mechanic did step by step diagnostics and found that the problem was a $28.74 main ignition relay (part number 2523079981 - according to the bill). To confirm that my problem was this relay, they reinstalled the old one and the problem manifest itself again. Avi drove the car for about 30 miles just to make sure. I have since driven the car for about 200 miles and everything is back to perfect. For the life of me, I can't understand why Orlando Infiniti could not fix this problem after 2 tries and about a $600 worth of parts replacements. They even wouldn't return my calls after my second visit, after I informed them the problem was still there. Needless to say, Z-Tech will get my business going forward. I highly recommend this shop to anyone owning an Infiniti. They really are experts.
