Default Tinted Driver/Pssngr Windows

Is there a factory supplied tint on the Driver/Passenger windows on an '05 G35 6MT, sport, performance..full load except Navi?

I am in Texas and received a "No Certificate" ticket today for not having a window tint rating displayed. As far as I know there was not any aftermarket tint added to the windows (unless done by the dealer and not disclosed--though it doesn't look like there is any film on the windows).

I am at a total loss as to what is going on and would welcome any advice.

Thanks

Most cars come with some tint. It would be very unusual for any factory tint to be illegal.
Maybe you can take it to a tint shop and have them check it. Or the dealership.
I've never heard of a 'tint certificate' but then I don't live in Texas. But most all states have limits. I think most cops don't even notice unless they can't see your face clearly through the side window.
Front window tint from the factory is the lightest, and it is illegal to tint it darker. Different states have different laws for the other windows.
Maybe the cop needs an eye checkup.

They should have done a field test on your windows when you were given the ticket. They have a light meter kit that has various light restricted slides and a meter that slides over the window.

As was said above, each state is different. Several states allow tinting of all windows except the front windshield. Each state has varying limits on the front side and remaining windows.

For Texas, aftermarket film as a limit of 25% on side windows (front and rear) and 20% on the rear windshield. That is 25% of the light must pass through the window. This is pretty dark.

This information is from the Texas State public safety website:
http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/Misc/faq/tint.htm

It sounds like what you are cited for is a violation to this:
Does my window require a window tint label? § 547.609. SUNSCREENING DEVICES PERMITTED. A sunscreening device must have a label that:
(1) is legible;
(2) contains information required by the department on light transmission and luminous reflectance of the device; and
(3) is permanently installed between the material and the surface to which the material is applied.
Note: This label should be provided by the installer.

If there is film on your windows, then there must be a disclosure of the tint. If the glass is not tinted aftermarket (theres no film on the window - you should be able to tell by the edge of the glass) then you don't need to have a label disclosing the tint %.
