Transmission 1st gear sticking erratically

Hello,

It can't get out of first gear but its occurences are erratic and very isolated. Sometimes I can drive it for 2 weeks without it happening, then at its worst it happens every 4th day driving it.

Sometimes I can get it to shift out of first by a combination of revving, O/D switching, and/or switching into nuetral or 2nd. If any of the above fixes it, I don't know which one does or if its just time.

Check engine light is associated with it, but it doesn't always turn on when the problem occurs, sometimes its illumination precedes it, other times it follows it.

Normally though, I have to stop and turn the car off, which fixes it just about every time.

Have had a hellish time at a tranmission shop. THe have replaced the Knock and VSSE sensor and looked at the tranmission wiring. $1200 and it still isn't really fixed.

Personally I have tried an additive for sticking. Only thing I havent done that I can think of is a tranny fluid swap.

Did you checked for codes? even if the light is not ON you may have a code stored in the transmission computer. A code will help you diagnose the problem.

You need to have a shop check for transmission pressure.
